Limone

If you will be in Italy, you should definitely visit Limone. Limone is one of Italy's oldest ski areas, and it is a very old village with a twelfth century church and many other old buildings. The town is located near the French border, and is only about thirty miles from Nice.

At Limone, you will experience a real taste of old Italy. The nightlife has a lot to offer, and the gourmet food is out of this world! Food and skiing are everything here with more than fifty restaurants, and 46 ski runs. The top elevation is 6689 with a vertical drop of 3033 feet. Most of the runs are best suited to intermediate skiers, with a few that are suitable for beginners and experts. There are twenty seven lifts, including seven chair lifts and twenty surface lifts.

Remember that the village is very old and the locales like it that way. If you prefer high technology and modern buildings, Limone probably isn't for you. But if you want to truly experience Italy, Limone must be on your list of places to visit in Italy.

Cortina

Cortina is a world-famous winter resort that ranks up there with the best ski resorts in the world. Cortina is surrounded by spectacular peaks which rise nearly 2000 meters above the village.

Cortina offfers a complete range of winter sports facilities and hosted the Olympic Games in 1956. Life centers around the Corso, a traffic-less, shop-lined street where the late afternoon passeggiata proceeds without fail.

You can shop latest winter fashions, as well as purchase a gift from one of the many antique and craft shops. At the heart of the Corso is a central piazza, a church with towering campanile, and the Regole Museum.

Courmayeur

Courmayeur lies at the foot of Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain, and is close to both the French and Swiss borders. The skiing area is just above the town and accessible via two cable cars and a gondola. Other cable cars, gondolas, chair lifts and poma lifts provide connections with every part of the mountain.

At Courmayeur Mont Blanc there are slopes for every level of skier, from beginner to expert. The skiing provides fantastic views of the Mont Blanc ranges, with its peaks and glaciers.

A vast array of excellent restaurants, disco clubs and an open air ice skating rink provide the evening enjoyment. Visitors will also find some exciting shopping on Courmayeur's central Via Rome.

Val Gardena

Val Gardena is one of the most popular destinations for a winter holiday in the Dolomites. Val Gardena is about 13 miles long and runs from west to east from the narrow entrance to the valley at Ponte Gardena up to Passo Gardena and Passo Sella. A well equipped train network connects Val Gardena with the rest of Italy and North Europe.
